AquaTone Water Based Wood Stain
AquaTone is a water based stain built for wood floors. It penetrates the timber, pulls out the grain and gives you an even, controllable colour without the fumes, the flammability or the two day wait you get with solvent stains. Touch dry in about an hour, ready to coat the same day. Seal it with Sandhouse OmniTone/OmniStrong, or My Sandhouse Hardwax Oil.... be sure to use 'Traditional' to seal.
It works because it goes on wet and stays workable. You get time to keep a wet edge across a full room, so no lap marks, no patchy overlaps, no starting again on a floor you've just sanded twice. Wipe it, brush it, pad it. Whatever you're used to.
Three warm browns.
Tobacco is a rich golden brown.
Cuban is a deep tan, the colour of a cigar.
Chocolate is a medium brown. Milk chocolate, not dark.
Then there's the fourth bottle.
AquaTone Stain Dilute knocks the intensity back without changing the colour. Cut a stain 50/50 and you've got a lighter version of it. Cut it further and you've got a tint. Mix two colours and dilute the result and you've got a colour nobody else is selling.
Once it's dry, seal it. AquaTone sits under our OmniTone and OmniStrong lacquers and under Hardwax Oil without lifting when you coat over it. Sand to 100 or 120 grit, vacuum properly, water pop if you want it darker, then stain.
Made for floors. Fine on furniture, stairs, worktops and anything else timber.
One 2.5L bottle covers 50 to 60m², so around 20 to 24m² per litre depending on species and how thirsty the boards are.
