Here's the complete Original description in one go:
Professional Penetrating Hardwax Oil for Floors, Furniture & Joinery
The colour specialist of the Sandhouse Hardwax Oil range. Deep, buffed-in colour like Bare Naked and Snow White, or the classic Traditional finish. A complete standalone finish, or the first half of the Sandhouse Buff & Roll™ System.
Overview
Sandhouse Original is a penetrating hardwax oil that nourishes the timber while carrying colour deep into the grain. Bare Naked and Snow White are pigmented finishes designed to be buffed in with a white pad, beige pad or buffer, working the colour deep into the timber for real depth, not a coating sat on top. That makes them the foundation of any pale or Scandinavian floor. Traditional is a complete standalone hardwax oil that delivers a beautifully natural finish with excellent protection, buffed, rolled or brushed, with the classic hardwax character many professionals still prefer.
Ideal for floors, furniture, worktops and joinery. Available in Traditional, Bare Naked and Snow White. 1L.
Made in Yorkshire. Low VOC. Food-safe when fully cured. EN 71-3 Toy Safe certified.
Colour Guide
Traditional A classic warm hardwax oil that gently enriches the natural warmth and character of timber while maintaining a natural matte finish. Ideal for oak and most natural timber species.
Bare Naked Designed to minimise the natural ambering of timber while preserving a clean, untreated appearance.
Snow White A stronger white-pigmented hardwax oil designed to create bright Scandinavian-style timber finishes.

Application
Water popping for maximum depth
For the deepest, richest colour, water pop the timber first. Lightly dampen the sanded floor with a wet cloth or spray and allow it to dry fully. The water raises the grain and opens the pores of the timber, letting the oil penetrate deeper and take on noticeably more colour. It's a simple step that makes a real difference, especially with Bare Naked and Snow White.
Buff on, buff off (Bare Naked, Snow White, and Traditional if preferred)
- Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from dust, grease and previous coatings
- Apply with a white pad, beige pad or buffer, working the oil and colour into the timber
- Remove any excess by buffing off before it begins to dry
- Allow to dry fully, then repeat for a second coat if required
Roll or brush (Traditional)
- Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from dust, grease and previous coatings
- Apply a thin, even coat by roller or brush, working in the direction of the grain
- Allow to dry fully before applying a second coat
- Lightly abrade between coats with a fine abrasive (240 grit or equivalent) for best adhesion
- Apply a second coat and allow to cure fully before use
Coverage
Approximately 20 to 25m² per litre, depending on timber porosity and application method.
Drying Times
- Touch dry: 2 to 4 hours

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Original be used on its own? Yes. Original is a complete hardwax oil and requires no additional products. Apply two coats to bare or previously oiled timber for a durable, professional finish.
Which colour should I choose? Traditional suits oak and most natural timber species. Bare Naked minimises ambering for a cleaner, more natural look. Snow White creates a bright Scandinavian-style finish.
What is water popping? Water popping means lightly dampening the sanded timber and letting it dry before oiling. The moisture raises the grain and opens the pores of the wood, so the oil penetrates deeper and delivers a richer, more even colour. It's well worth the extra step with Bare Naked and Snow White, where depth of colour makes all the difference.
What is the Buff & Roll™ System? The Buff & Roll™ System pairs Original with Sandhouse Signature | Extra Thicc & Waxy™ for the ultimate two-stage finish: buff the Original in for colour and depth, roll the Signature over for maximum build and protection. Simply add both products to your order.
Is it food-safe? Yes. The surface is food-safe when fully cured (7 days). It is also EN 71-3 Toy Safe certified, making it suitable for children's furniture and play surfaces.
